It takes many hands to run a roadhouse, to be part of a community like Talkeetna. When we teach pie making classes during the winter months the baker’s table becomes a blur of finger and hand action and before we can blink the flour out of our eyes there is a mountain of pie dough before us. The hands in the picture attached to this note belong to five recent Chinese tour operators who came to experience a touch (and taste!) of authentic roadhouse pie making then eating. I tried to convince them to stay for the summer and take over all the pie and pasty production…. no luck!
