Talkeetna & Roadhouse Events for the Week April 8 - 14, 2019

Sharing the history of the Roadhouse is often sidelined by the ga-zillion moment-to-moment tasks that otherwise keep the griddles full, dining room a-buzzin’ and ovens packed full of all manner of from-scratch goodness. It has literally been a couple decades that I’ve been collecting and storing snapshots and clippings of other eras of roadhouse life and I’m delighted to share that there is now a respectable section of wall in the Back Room dedicated to telling the earliest stories of roadhouse ownership. There are still those around who remember meeting and interacting with the Close’s (1952-1978), but long gone are any that actually knew the Lee Brothers and Isabella Grindrod. I continue to search for more information on the earliest history of what later became the Roadhouse. If you have #talkeetnahistory to share, please do!
